"Fashions fade, Style is eternal"- Yves Saint Laurent

Getting down and dirty in the mud

This year, I plan to lose my festival virginity LOL. I’ve heard so much about festivals and how much fun they are and I don’t think anything beats the sound of live music! Plus, it’s a great way of seeing your favourite artists without breaking the bank. My favourite type of music is house; deep, tribal house… I could listen to it all day and night!

I’ve put Creamfields 2012 as number one on my shortlist of festivals to attend this year. It’s a 3-day event based in Warrington which was headlined by David Guetta last year. The line up is set to be exclusively announced this Friday (2nd March) on BBC Radio 1 at 7pm.

Excluding the live music, the best thing about festivals is the fashion. Hunters, denim shorts and trilbys at the ready… here’s a few of my fave looks from Summer 2011 x

This is the latest video from Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. I think she’s one of those musicians you either love or hate… judge for yourself!

Dirty, Sexy, Things

In 2011, leading fashion photographer Perou came up with a revolutionary idea which involved 6 upcoming London-based models to feature in a Channel 4 programme “Dirty, Sexy, Things”. He selected 8 models and shot a series of out-of-the-ordinary photos over an 8-week period. The programme followed the day-to-day lives of the models and revealed the common struggles they face in making it big on the catwalk.

Each week after the models had been photographed, Perou would carefully select just one photo from the bunch which he would feature in the exhibition at the end of the 8-week period. Here’s the end result:

Group shot from left to right: Rob, Jessye B, Jesse Burgess, Ariella, BB, Charlotte de Charle, Jay Camilleri and Ocean Moon (YES THAT IS HER ACTUAL NAME! lol)

All in all, it was an interesting watch and showed you a more human side to the modelling industry. Check it out on Channel40D before it’s too late!

“A Man’s Story” is a full-length documentary following 12 months in the life of Ozwald Boateng as a man and as a designer. It was set to be released late 2011 so watch this space!

Bespoke tailoring… with a British twist!

Combining fashion, design, art and architecture, Ozwald Boateng is more than just a fashion designer; he is a true artist who has perfected his trade. With a store in one of the most exclusive areas of London, Ozwald Boateng sits on the corner of Savile Row, Mayfair- at 28 years old he was the youngest and the first black tailor with that prestigious address.

His suits have been worn by some of the most respected men in the world including Richard Branson and Will Smith, to name a few. The ghanaian designer’s story is an inspirational one as he rose above the racist tension prevalent in the UK in the 1980s.

Here’s a taster of his Spring/Summer 2012 collection:

Style Watch- Tinie Tempah

From the streets of Woolwich, to the main stage at Glastonbury, Tinie Tempah is often seen as a pioneer for grime music in the United Kingdom. His unique flow and talent have put him at the forefront of the music scene in the UK with his audience ranging from young girls to older men. Though his success is largely a result of his own talent, the man behind his 2009 banger “Pass Out” is none other than the musical genius Labrinth who produced the track. The two made an exciting combination and have never looked back.

In January 2012, Tinie Tempah was awarded with the GQ Best Dressed Man Award, an amazing achievement for any young man.

Have a look at Tinie’s most fashion-forward looks over the years…
